11/2022 Pretty good prices for quick fixes, beer, nice selection of bentos, etc. One of only a handful of places on this side of Kona that are convenient and quick while getting something to eat.
Selection of FRESH poke at a convenient store type market. You’ll never find this anywhere else besides Hawaii. The fish here is simply fresher than any other fish you would get in a regular store on the mainland/Canada. Great place to stop by for a quick snack.
04/30/2025 (Wed) We stopped by this market after the beach to pick up some food for the next morning’s breakfast and snacks for our beach day. It was just after 1 PM, and most of the lunch items like bento boxes at the hot food counter were already sold out. We walked around to see if there might be something available in another section, but by the time we returned, even the few remaining hot food items had already been cleared away. So instead, we picked up some fruit, sweet red bean buns, butter mochi, ice cream, and a bottle of wine. The cashier was very pleasant and polite, and we had a nice shopping experience despite the limited food selection.
Best place to get gas to refill before returning your rental car. It's a Texaco and also lets you use Safeway fuel points if you have them. Has pretty equivalent market prices for gas, not one of those last chance for gas pirates that you find in some places. They also are open at 4am, which is great for those early morning flights.
I am not too surprised about the prices here. It is HUH-VAI-EEE. Place is clean and decent selection. Standard Bakery stuff. Bought a salad that was good. It looks smalls in the photo but had two chicken breasts in it. I was stuffed.
A lot of things in a small place and a bit pricey. Understand that everything is more these days but one bag of a small chips was $5.
I love all the Matsuyama markets! Each is a little different, but they all have a HUGE variety of delicious prepared foods, desserts, snacks and drinks. When I'm in Kona and I'm hungry, I'd rather stop here than go to a restaurant. They have the best tuna/mac/potato salad, which is always my breakfast go-to. It's super convenient the way this location has a nice, covered eating area right outside the door. This location also has the sweetest Aunty working the register. She's a doll!
